World Music Day 2021

“If music is the food of love, play on.” – William Shakespeare

World Music Day or Fete de la Musique is a unique annual celebration of music, which takes place on June 21. The theme of World Music Day 2021 is “Music at the intersections”. It is also known as Music Day or Make Music Day. It lays stress on the importance of nurturing people's affection for music and sharing music with all without any restrictions. More than 120 countries commemorate World Music Day. On this day, usually young and amateur musicians are encouraged to perform.  World Music Day often coincides with the Summer Solstice, another great day for feasts and festivities. On this day, the ambience is awash with the sound of every kind of music in the air.

However, with the covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restricting activities this year, Krishnagar Public School, Nadia, celebrated World Music Day virtually. The Coronavirus pandemic could not cause the music to fall silent. In spite of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and social distancing, Team KPS took the initiative in organising an Inter-School Virtual Music Competition - KPS Euphoria to celebrate the World Music Day.

KPS Euphoria, stimulated and encouraged the students to showcase musical creations or performances through different and diverse forms. The competition took place on a national level. Many schools, nation-wide, spontaneously and sportingly joined KPS Euphoria. The KPS Team received hearty and healthy responses for the event. There were overwhelming entries from across the Nation.

The little songsters performed Children's Song/ Rhymes as well as Rabindra Sangeet or Patriotic Song. The senior students executed Folk Song (Any Language - Indian/ International), Modern (English) and Semi-Classical or Classical (Indian/ International). The students rendered phenomenally. The students from varied schools participated in the epoch-making event with great zeal and zest. Thereby making the event a grand success.
