Thanks Giving Day 2021

"Give thanks with a grateful heart.Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude."
On Thursday, November 26, 1789, President George Washington issued a proclamation for “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer.” Beginning in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln encouraged Americans to recognize the last Thursday of November as “a day of Thanksgiving.”The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 over a three day harvest festival. It included 50 Pilgrims, 90 Wampanoag Indians,
and lasted three days. It is believed by historians that only five women were present.Thanksgiving is celebrated to say thanks and recognise the sacrifices and blessings of the past year. The annual celebrations honour the first Thanksgiving feast shared between the colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts, later known as the Pilgrims, and the Wampanoag Indians. When Abraham Lincoln was president in 1863, he proclaimed the last Thursday of November to be our national Thanksgiving Day. In 1865, Thanksgiving was celebrated the first Thursday of November, because of a proclamation by President Andrew Johnson, and, in 1869, President Ulysses. In both Canada and America, family and friends gather for a feast on Thanksgiving. Traditional fare in America often includes turkey, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Parades and football games also have long associations with the holiday. Thanksgiving in India is not common. But it is been observed primarily in the state of Goa. It is celebrated with a different name popularly known as 'ladainha' or ' ladin ' in India. 'Ladin' literally mean litany (invocation) to the virgin Mary. So,during this pandemic, the students of class 3rd ,4rth and 5th enthusiastically displayed and performed their various artwork on "Thanksgiving" in the form of drawings, paper -arts,collages and speech on the virtual platform. The collaboration of participation of the students showed their passion and zeal towards their creativity and skills.
