World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and is United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It was first held in 1974, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issue such as marine pollution, global warming, human over population, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. For almost five decades, world environment day has been raising awareness, supporting action, and driving changes for the environment. World Environment Day 2022 theme, ‘Only One Earth’, focuses on living sustainably in harmony with nature.
To celebrate this day we requested our students from playgroups to XII to participate in various activities. Students of PG, Nursery & KG planted a tree to be more connected with the nature. Class 1 & 2 students sorted household waste according to reusable and non-reusable items. Class 3-5 students made a compost bottle to observe the process of compostable material breaking down in the soil. Class 6-8 students made mini green house at their home. Class 9-12 students made a pie chart/ bar graph computing consumption of renewable energy of sources in India of 2021 and had also written about each resources and advantage of using renewable energy.
The main objective was to make the students aware about the importance of WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY by performing the various activities.
Overall, the activities of the students of Krishnagar Public School had made the event more graceful.
