'Radio is the theater of the mind'
Let us celebrate the power of radio to reflect and promote diversity in all its forms.
World Radio Day is celebrated every year on 13th February and the day is dedicated to an important medium that existed even before television sets and computers made their way into our lives.
Unfortunately, with the emergence of smart phones, computers, televisions, etc, people go to the internet to listen to their favorite music stations and podcasts. Hence, the radio is slowly being forgotten.
With this in mind, our students were made to understand what the importance of World Radio Day. They made beautiful models of radio under the guidance of their teachers on virtual platform.
The significance of the day stems from how dynamic and versatile the medium is. At a time, when the internet holds more precedence over the radio, it becomes all the more important to understand why and how its reach across all platforms has a global impact. The main object behind observing World Radio Day is to raise awareness among the public and the media of the importance of radio and to encourage decision-makers to establish and provide access to information through radio; as well as to enhance networking and international cooperation among broadcasters.
