International Yoga Day 2021

International Day of Yoga is observed and celebrated with much fervour every year on June 21. This year, it carries the theme "Yoga for well-being", much relevant for our times in a society still recovering from the impact of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Covid-19 plight was not just a physical crisis, it also left lasting impacts on mental health, with many left in psychological suffering, depression, and anxiety dealing with the pandemic-necessitated restrictions and loss. This has highlighted the urgent need to address the mental health dimension of the pandemic, in addition to the physical health aspects. It has been witnessed during the pandemic that a growing trend of people around the world embraced Yoga to stay healthy and rejuvenated and fought against social isolation and depression.

Krishnagar Public School, Nadia, with a vision of fostering all round development of a child, imparting quality education and igniting the young minds, celebrated the International Yoga Day, on virtual platform. The Coronavirus pandemic could not exclude the holistic wellness of human beings through the art of yoga. Inspite of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and social distancing, Team KPS took the initiative in organising an Inter-School Virtual Yoga Competition KPS Yog Fit to celebrate the International Yoga Day.

KPS Yog Fit inspired and motivated the students to display the various types of yoga asanas. The competition took place on a national level. Many schools, nation-wide, instinctively and enthusiastically joined KPS Yog Fit. The KPS Team received overwhelming responses and entries for the event from across the Nation. The students from varied schools participated in the momentous event with great gusto. The event achieved huge recognition and applause Nationwide.
