National Library Day 2021

In remembrance of the national professor of library science, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), National Library Day is celebrated all across India on 12th of August. Every year this day is observed in the fond memory of this great man who had spearheaded Library and Information Science development in India. It is an endeavour to promote the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building.

Even during the pandemic, libraries have been going above and beyond to adapt to our changing world. It has been extending and expanding their resources and continuing to meet the needs of their users. Whether people visit in person or virtually, libraries offer opportunities for everyone to explore new worlds and become their best selves through access to technology, multimedia content, and educational programs.

Krishnagar Public school, Nadia observed this day with much vigour and enthusiasm. The students from Classes VI to VIII participated in various creative activities. Students of Class VI made beautiful and amazing greeting cards for the librarians. They tried to express their thoughtfulness and emotions through it. The students of Class VII prepared their own library at home and shared the photographs. With wonderful precision, immense passion, and brilliant artfulness, the students exhibited the activity. The students of Class VIII created their digital library. The students were extremely delighted to create, execute and manage the digital library. The Library Department of Krishnagar Public School, Nadia, organized a Webinar on Relevance of Ranganathan’s Philosophy and Laws of Library Science in Present Scenario on 12^th August, 2021 at 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. There were overwhelming responses from the participants.
