Guru Purnima is a particularly significant day in the Indian ethos and heritage. The day is considered sacred as it reflects the bonding between the guru and the ‘shishya’. It is significant therefore the Krishnagar Public School chose to organize their Investiture Ceremony on 24th July 2021, on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The Investiture Ceremony is an opportunity to identify and felicitate the young leaders as the members of Student Council when they take the oath to don the mantle of responsibility that has to be discharged with painstaking honesty. Considering the pandemic situation, the school organized a virtual celebration through a Facebook Event where the parents, students and all interested stakeholders could witness the proceedings.
The occasion was graced by the Director Mr. Amitava Guha, Trustee Mrs. Nabanita Guha and Principal Dr. Sankar Prasad Dutta among other senior member of the school who were present at school to witness the felicitation of the Students’ Council live. The virtual programme started with the emcees – Indrakshi Saha and Sambit Majumder of Class XII addressing the house and announing the opening dance on Guru Vandana performed by Sohini Mondal of Class VI, Sharanya Sen of Class VIII, Ankita Halder of Class IX and Adrija Karmakar of Class XI followed by a trilingual rendition of a Rabindrasangeet performed by Bidyutparna Chakraborty of Class VIII and Arup Sarkar of Class XI. The wonderful performances followed by the Welcome Note by Principal Dr. Sankar Prasad Dutta, who declared the ceremony open after his motivating address to the newly formed Students’ Council where he spoke the essential qualities of a leader – FAR – Fortitude, Ardent and Relentless. Dr. Dutta also said, “To the student leaders your investiture marks a major milestone both in your learning journey at school and also in your personal development as a future leader of the nation The school sees great potential in you and your investiture as student leaders is a testament that the immense faith that the school has in their leadership capabilities.”
The management and the school heads felicitated the newly elected Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl by presenting them with the sash and the invaluable badge of honour. The four young leaders took the oath on behalf of the remaining chosen members of the Students Council who joined virtually. The Captains, Vice Captains and the House Prefects were presented their badges virtually. The newly installed Head Boy in his acceptance address spoke of how the school’s vision has helped him to become the talented young man he is today and how this has been his dream forever. In her acceptance address, the Head Girl spoke on the opportunities that are provided to each pupil in school and how she wishes to live upto the expectations of the school and her fellow mates. The concluding speech and vote of thanks was proposed by Vice Principal ‘Dr. Ramesh Kumar Agarwal who congratulated and motivated the students by his words, “The coveted positions of the Students Council come with a lot of responsibilities, and one of which is to hold the flag of the school high. You are the torch bearers to the rest of the school. We all know that powers and responsibilities are corollary to each other. At Krishnagar Public School, we have dedicated ourselves to World Class education. You will help us to further the same cause. I congratulate each one of you on being bestowed with these honours.”
