In 2020, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on 22nd April with the theme: Climate Action, in the middle of the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, which has forced people across the globe to stay in the confines of their homes, students of Class XI and XII under the leadership of their teacher Ms. Indrani Bhattacharyya took this opportunity to spread awareness of the need for conservation and sustainability for our Mother Earth through their thoughtful posters.
The posters have been shared on the school's social media platforms for public awareness with the students believing that their extremely moving visual aids could inspire people realise the importance of flora and fauna and ecological balance in the earth.
“Earth Day 2020 will be far more than a day. It must be a historic moment when citizens of the world rise up in a united call for the creativity, innovation, ambition, and bravery that we need to meet our climate crisis and seize the enormous opportunities of a zero-carbon future’ our Principal Dr. Sankar Prasad Dutta added.
This unique initiative was covered in the media. (Read article: http://newsfromnadia.in/krishnagar-public-school-celebrated-50th-world-earth-day/ )
We hope these posters make the desired impact and we continue to respect the boundaries of each and every living organism and do not encroach on others. That is the new 3R's for environmental conservation we learnt during this pandemic:
RESPECT all living creatures
RESTRICT unnecessary human activity
RECONNECT with nature.
