Every year, 22 December is observed as National Mathematics Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. Former Prime Minister Dr Manhmohan Singh declared 22 December as National Mathematics Day in 2012. Singh's announcement had come during his visit to the Madras University on Ramanujan’s 125th birth anniversary. The main objective behind the celebration is to raise awareness among people about the importance of mathematics for development of humanity. We can not ignore the several initiatives are taken to motivate , enthuse and inculcate a positive attitude towards learning mathematics among younger generation of the country.
This year our students of KRISHNAGAR PUBLIC SCHOOL have celebrated mathematics day by participating in various activities.
PRE NURSERY - K.G : Stand or sit in a position to form a number
CLASS 1 : Make a chart to describe yourself , with the help of numbers
CLASS 2:Make abacus with the help of bindi on a paper for atleast five 3-digit numbers.
CLASSES 3 & 4 : Write the Roman Numerals (1 to 20) with the help of match sticks on a chart paper.
CLASS 5 : Make a model of clock.
CLASS 6 : Draw a village scenery with geometrical shapes.
CLASS 7 : Deliver a speech on the importance of Mathematics in our daily life.
Apart from these, Mathematics department of KPS organised a webinar for the students of class VIII , IX , X and XI where the students described the contribution of some famous mathematicians with some working models.
We hope celebration of such a day is indeed a welcome step and will go a long way in promoting Mathematics among the youth minds of the country.
