This autumn again drove all of us together to celebrate puja. Durga Puja for the Bengalis is much more than a festival. It is a carnival and an emotion that marks the time of happy tides. It has become a tradition of Krishnagar Public School, Krishnagar to welcome Maa Durga in its signature style year after year. The celebration was meant to invite the Goddess to descend plentifully on earth and dispel the darkness from every corner, spreading enlightenment and making every existence well worth. The program was organised on both the days, 17th October as ‘Celebration of Junior and Senior Students’ and 18th October as ‘Celebration of Admins, Teachers and other members of KPS Family’.
On the first day of celebration, the little buds of Play Group, Nursery and KG presented themselves by dressing up as Maa Durga or her other family members. A whole lot of cultural items including songs and dance and recitation were in store for the audience, which were conceived and presented by the senior students in different groups. Their charismatic appearances and enthusiastic performances completely created that ‘Durga-Puja Vibe’ which Bengalis earnestly wait for a whole year. The program had provided the ambiance of -
“In the molten gold of this autumn sunshine, softly reflected from the fresh dewy grass outside "the autumn which ripened for me my songs as it ripens the corn for the tillers, the autumn which filled my granary of leisure with radiance…."
The next day, celebration started with a dance performance by Mrs. Nabanita Guha, one of the Admins of Krishnagar Public School followed by a magnificent presentation of ‘Chandi Path’. Several numbers of singing performances on ‘Ai giri nandini, Durge Durge Durgotinashini, Aaj baje mono majhe’ and dance performances on ‘Dugga Elo, Bolo Durga Maiki, Dhindora Baje Re’ were entertaining parts of the program. Moreover, the drama performance ‘Biday’ was such a compelling and convulsing act that it raised a question mark on the sense of responsibility of human beings.
Welcoming the good and destroying the evil was well demonstrated and celebrated throughout the event followed by vote of thanks by our Principal Sir.
