“Little pools of water tend to become stagnant and useless, but if they are joined together to form a big lake the atmosphere is cooled and there is universal benefit.” – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
Rastriya Ekta Divas or National Unity Day is celebrated each year on 31st October on the birth anniversary of Sarder Vallabhbhai Patel to pay tribute to Patel's crucial efforts leading to the integration of India. This day provides all Indians with “an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country.”
At, Krishnagar Public School, like each year the celebration of this special day continued with great enthusiasm. 510 students from Class VI to Class XII along with 64 teachers and 8 non-teaching staff together took the Unity Pledge as advocated by the Government of India during the School Assembly. 41 students and 10 teachers also participated in the Run for Unity.
The students of Middle School presented short speeches on the life and contributions of Sardar Patel and thereby were fascinated to know how the courage and perseverance of the ‘Iron Man of India’ ensured the unity and integrity of the nation. The students of Class IX and X participated in Poster Making Activity on this occasion. The posters represented the spirit of unity and integrity and national harmony and was displayed on the School Display Board. The students of Classes IX and X also presented thought-provoking declamation in Hindi on the topic “Rashtriya Ekta – Aaj ki zarurat”. The students of Senior section participated in a Debate on the topic “National unity is greatly dependent on the interpretation and representation of the past.” It was exciting to see the students express their points of view passionately and enthusiastically. In fact, after the strong arguments, it became too difficult for the judges to declare a clear winning team of the debate.
Several teachers and students including the Admin Heads also took the Unity Pledge on MyGov.in portal and were proud to achieve their Rastriya Ekta Divas Pledge Certificates. The day indeed was fulfilling with all the members touched by the spirit of national integration and harmony.
