Rath Yatra or the Chariot Festival is a public procession in a chariot. It is a religious celebration celebrated with great pomp and show in Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
During the present crisis situation where there is a restriction on almost all spheres of life, especially with respect to outdoor events and public gatherings, that led to so much of confusion and controversy regarding whether the festival will be celebrated with such grandeur this year. Untouched by all the controversy, our young students found a new way to celebrate Rath Yatra with home-made Raths- a perfect way to understand our culture and appreciate our history.
The students of Pre-Primary and Primary celebrated Rath Yatra by decorating their home-made Raths and pulling the same in their homes itself. Some of the students even expressed the significance of the festival of Rath Yatra. They shared videos of their activities that was later published as a compilation on YouTube.
