Mahishasurnashini Bhaktanam Sukhade Namah:
Rupag Dehi Jayang Dehi Yasho Dehi Dwisho Jaye”
Durga Puja is unique this year in Bengal, because of astronomical occurrence and the Covid – 19 pandemic. For the first time in recent memory there is a gap of unprecedented 35 days between Mahalaya and Durga Puja which generally is of 6 days.
In Bengal, Mahalaya marks the beginning of Durga Puja. Bengalis celebrate this auspicious day with enthusiasm and begin their celebration by listening to the enchanting voice of Late Birendra Krishna Bhadra narrating holy verses on the radio.
To celebrate the joy of welcoming Goddess Durga, students of KPS participated on virtual shows. They dressed as Devi Durga, Lord Shiva and Asura. They made painting based on the holy occasion of Mahalaya. They danced and sang songs and also spoke about the significance of the festival. The day was well celebrated.
