‘Jagaddhatri' is an amalgamation of two Sanskrit words Jagat meaning world and dhatri meaning one who carries the world. The puja is popularly called as reincarnation of Goddess Durga, the protector of the world. The festival of Jagadhatri Puja is celebrated in the splendid manner on the 9th day of the moonlit fortnight in the month of kartik or November. Maharaja Krishnachandra Roy, the Raja of Krishnagar of Nadia district was the one who introduced the public worship of Goddess Jagadhatri.
It reminds us that good always wins over evil and we should follow the right path.
This year our students of Pre-nursery to XII celebrated Jagadhatri Puja by participating in various activities. They dressed like the Goddess Jagadhatri and some like the lion; they decorated the picture of the goddess beautifully as craft activity. Exchanged greetings with family and friends living outside and wrote letters explaining the significance of the festival. Some also wrote letters to the Puja organizers suggesting precautionary ways to prevent the spread of Corona Virus.
The yearly celebration of Jagatdhatri Puja thus brought joy and spirituality among individuals.
