“A tsunami can never be just a wave... Tsunamis reshape the Earth”
After the 2004 deadliest Tsunami in the Indian Ocean; The United Nations General Assembly designated 5th November as World Tsunami Awareness Day from December 2015. The basic motive of this day is to increase the awareness about the Tsunami among people who live in low-lying coastal areas and small islands.
Students of class VI, VII & VIII observed World Tsunami Awareness Day through various interesting activities on virtual platform based on the theme “Strengthening disaster risk governance”. Students explained the causes of Tsunami, the importance of Mangrove Forest that helps to protect the coastal areas from deadly waves of Tsunami. They shared a documentary on one of the deadliest disasters in modern history due to Tsunami that hit India in the year 2004.
They also made paintings of big waves, real photo collage of Tsunami stricken areas of different countries.
Tsunami can’t be predicted, and often come with very little warning. Our students participated in Lessons for life: Drills that prepare students for Tsunami. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.
