Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.
National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on 22nd December across the nation to recognize and celebrate the works of legendary Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. It was on this day in 1887, the Indian mathematical genius was born to a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family at Erode, Tamil Nadu.
This year the students of classes Pre-Nursery – VIII observed this day through various activities, based on Mathematics. They made abacus with beads, who am I clock, scenery with geometrical shapes, symmetry with match stick, different shapes of polyhedron etc and shared their work virtually.
A wonderful webinar was organized by the mathematics department for students of Class IX – XII where in the teachers described the life story of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan through power point presentation. A quiz competition was also a part of the program. The main objective behind the celebration was to raise awareness about the importance of mathematics for the development of humanity.
