Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival historically native to the Indian subcontinent. It is primarily in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Madhesh region of Nepal.
The festival does not involve idolatry and is dedicated solely to worship Shashthi Devi (Chhathi Maiya) and Sun God (Surya) along with his consorts Usha and Pratyusha the Vedic Goddess of Dawn and Dusk respectively. It is believed that the main sources of Sun's powers are his wife Usha and Pratyusha.
Chhath is considered as the most environmentally friendly festival as, in its essence it is the worship of elements of nature and spreads message of nature conservation.
Students of class I to VIII of Krishnagar Public School, on virtual platform observed this day and took part in various activities like craft work, shared special messages and greetings with friends, and made a short video on the importance of the festival.
